Barack Obama and Eric Holder: The Rot Begins At The Top
Posted by KingShamus on March 2, 2011
Remember the New Black Panther who was caught on video doing voter intimidation type shit back in Election 2008? Well, Eric Holder is finally gonna do something…about the bitter clingers complaining about it.
Attorney General Eric Holder finally got fed up Tuesday with claims that the Justice Department went easy in a voting rights case against members of the New Black Panther Party because they are African American.
Holder’s frustration over the criticism became evident during a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing as Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas) accused the Justice Department of failing to cooperate with a Civil Rights Commission investigation into the handling of the 2008 incident in which Black Panthers in intimidating outfits and wielding a club stood outside a polling place in Philadelphia.
The Attorney General seemed to take personal offense at a comment Culberson read in which former Democratic activist Bartle Bull called the incident the most serious act of voter intimidation he had witnessed in his career.
“Think about that,” Holder said. “When you compare what people endured in the South in the 60s to try to get the right to vote for African Americans, and to compare what people were subjected to there to what happened in Philadelphia—which was inappropriate, certainly that…to describe it in those terms I think does a great disservice to people who put their lives on the line, who risked all, for my people,” said Holder, who is black.
…”To compare that kind of courage, that kind of action, and to say that the Black Panther incident wrong thought it might be somehow is greater in magnitude or is of greater concern to us, historically, I think just flies in the face of history and the facts.,” Holder said with evident exasperation.
Hey Eric, quick question-what the fuck do we have voter intimidation laws on the books if not to deal with idiots like King Samir Shabazz? I mean, I realize it offends your delicate racial sensibilities when these crazy right-wingers bitch about you dropping the ball on the New Black Panther case. The problem is that no matter what you think about the case, there are millions of people who have seen the video. Not all of them are just anti-Obama haters angling for political hit points. Most of the people talking about this are–shock of shocks–concerned about voter intimidation.
Here’s a thought, E-Ho. Instead of giving us dime-store time travelogues to the Civil Rights Era, how’s about you…I dunno…deal with the crimes that are occuring under your watch?
But it’s not just Eric Holder that is going into full-on dickbag mode. Check out everybody’s favorite Lightbringer.
Kenneth T. Walsh, in a “Special Report” for US News Weekly (2/26) titled, “Race in the Era of Obama,” writes that in May 2010, President Obama “told guests at a private White House dinner that race was probably a key component in the rising opposition to his presidency from conservatives, especially right-wing activists in the anti-incumbent ‘Tea Party’ movement. … A guest suggested that when Tea Party activists said they wanted to ‘take back’ their country, their real motivation was to stir up anger and anxiety at having a black president, and Obama didn’t dispute the idea. He agreed that there was a ‘subterranean agenda’ in the anti-Obama movement — a racially biased one.”
Nice slime job, Obambi.
I dunno why I have to do this, but let’s break this TeaParty=Bigots idea down a little. To pick just one representative of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, Rush Limbaugh has been against big government since the Big Bang. What the hell was Rush Limbaugh supposed to say or do when Barack Obama got sworn in? Shout hosanahs to HopeyChangey while legitimizing Obama’s statist agenda?
But of course, in Obambi’s world conservatives hate on him because he’s black.
As Robert Stacy McCain noted in the original link–which ya’all need to read now–this line of attack against the Tea Party, that some thought originated from the Bamster’s political operatives, actually comes directly from St. Barry himself.
Obama now owns all five A’s in “raaaaacism.”
Ain’t that the truth.
This is why I don’t understand the reluctance on the part of many Republicans to go after Obama harder than they do. Prince Zero is using the most damning charge in American political life to describe his opposition. But righties are nervous about calling Obama a socialist. Ooooh, wouldn’t want to use over-the-top rhetoric against the personally-popular-yet-politically-middling President.
Riddle me this, righties. The Obama Administration is doing all it can to beat you. St. Barry loathes you and makes little effort to hide his utter disdain for American traditionalists. He hates you so much, he’s super-dooper stoked to lie about your beliefs and call your ideology racist. That’s still not enough for you to start calling Obama’s policies by their actual name?
The counter-argument goes something like, “Well, Republican leaders in Congress aren’t using that language, so…” Yeah, so what? If the GOP jumped off an electoral cliff, would you follow them?
Now I’m not talking about just hurling random insults at the President. That would be incredibly counter-productive. I’m talking about articulating exactly how and why Barack Obama is fucking this country sideways with no lube. Unemployment is sky-high? Well, that would be in large part because businesses are nervous about hiring people when the President isn’t sure if he’s going to tax the firms to death, nationalize them for his union buddies to pick over or regulate them into non-existence.
Moreover, it isn’t some nameless policy wonk buried in the Department of Labor or the EPA or the Treasury that’s dreaming these nightmare schemes up. Obama isn’t just one cog in the gears of government that has no control over things. It is from his pathetically antiquated hack left-wing mind that these socialist policies are coming from. The President should be held personally responsible for taking what would have been a fairly tough but still manageable patch in America’s economic life and turning it into a looming existential crisis.
I know there are some people who still really like Obama. He’s got a nice jump-shot, he’s a pretty show-pony of a man and Hollywood seems to have a crush on him, so whatever. I know it’s risky to call the President out like that. But the bigger risk is in continuing to play this boneheaded ‘We-disagree-with-Obama-politically’ game. Obama must be made to pay a price for policies that have crippled the economy and bankrupted the country. That means we have to call him what he is–which is a socialist, by the way–and make the case why HIS socialist agenda is ruining America.
Obama and his charmless attorney general have already thrown down the race card against us. Why should we not hit back? Unlike Obama, we actually have concrete proof that the President is socialist. All we have to do is make the case and connect the national crisis to Obama and his ideas.
UPDATE: The awesome Bob Belvedere of the always strong Camp Of the Saints discovers that Stanley Kurtz agrees with me. ;-p
The Republicans won in 2010 because the Tea Party was bold enough to say out loud that Obama was hiding his radical, effectively socialist, and utterly unaffordable plans from the public. Yet Republicans seem reluctant to make the same point today, when everything indicates that the original Tea Party take on Obama was right. How can Republicans win with a campaign based on conventional policy analysis when Obama isn’t telling the truth about what his actual policy intentions are?
I’m not calling on Republicans to claim that Obama wants to “destroy” America. But Obama does want to radically transform this country, and he’s not being honest about what that involves. At some point, Republicans are going to have to say this if they want to win. I recently made this point about the budget debate. It’s not that Obama is “failing to lead” on the budget. The problem is that he knows all-too-well where he’s leading us.
Bob goes on to say that if Republicans keep pulling their punches, they will deservedly be defeated by Obummer.
He’s exactly right.
The GOP is this close (holds fngers a nonometer apart) to blowing their chance to beat Obama in 2012. I can feel these chicken-shit losers just dying to go RINO on us.
