Infidel: There’s a lot of truth to that. I don’t think it’s the whole story though. I think the workout/fitness crazes of the 70′s and 80′s got women thinking they had to have a ‘healthy’ shape, which quickly came to mean ‘no curves and .00002% body fat’. Couple that with some weird gay fashion sensibilities and voila, matchstick women.

I blame (and this is politically incorrect and/or hate speech) gay men. It seems all women have decided that theyl must have a gay BFF as an accessory. And what do gay men want? Teenage boys. Hence most women are getting rid of their curves, vomiting and starving themselves to satisfy the gay ideal.

It’s really us, the consumers, who feed the beast… Although I can proudly report that it’s been a while since I looked at a Vogue at a supermarket. Models are ugly, clothes are so-so… I suppose it can be some sort of a guide in deciding what’s happening now, but I prefer vintage anyway. Their photography is certainly competent, but cutting edge fashion photography is in Anthro catalog (parent company Urban Outfitters, who are for the most part gross).
